It’s important to understand and critically think through the information we’re consuming, and to acknowledge that not everything we are hearing or reading is news and that not all news is being written or part of the nightly news. Through the sharing of information (e.g. events, resources, networks), and the telling and sharing of stories the media isn’t covering—the local stories, the positive stories over the negative—perceptions can be changed, and each individual can help shape the future of a community.
